Description

A wine of exceptional quality made with the best grapes of a single harvest. A Vintage declaration occurs when producers believe that all conditions are gathered to release the highest standard of quality. On average, fully declared 2 to 3 times per decade, the wine must be bottled between the 2nd and 3rd year after the harvest. A wine built to age for decades reaching full maturity after 20 to 40 years of bottle aging.

Tasting Notes

Dark purple in colour. With 2017 as the first ever back-to-back VP general declaration (2016 & 2017), there is much excitement with this vintage, and Vesuvio has produced a fine example. It has a fragrant bouquet of blackcurrant, raspberry jam, graphite and dark toast, and unfurls luscious plum, espresso, cinnamon and nutmeg on the powerful and structured palate. The long and juicy finish has hints of blackcurrant and mint, and shows off its power all the way through.
