Description

Turris is Niepoort's flagship red wine from the Cima Corgo region, more specifically from a very old South-facing vineyard whose vines are more than 130 years old and grow completely untrained. After maturing for 20 months in over 60-year-old Fuder barrels originating from the Mosel region, the wine then spent a further 18 months maturing in bottle. The grapes from the Torre vineyard had always been intended for Batuta, as they add to the complexity and depth of this wine in a special way. In 2012, Dirk Niepoort decided to fulfil his dream and vinify this truly unique vineyard separately for the first time.

Tasting Notes

Deep, mineral and crystalline nose. This 2014 vintage is full of purity and finesse, with fresh, red fruit and a spring-like floral note. Great freshness and a silky texture in the mouth with great tension. Winning combination of elegance, mineral flavours and tannic structure. Beautifully long finish. An incredibly fine and textured wine of peerless complexity.
